In his role as Vice President and General Manager of the Chicago White Sox, Rick Hahn has been praised for his leadership. In July 2011, SportsIllustrated.com listed Hahn as the number one candidate for the position of General Manager in Major League Baseball. In a same vein, Baseball America ranked Hahn as the number one general manager prospect in baseball in March of 2010. A year earlier, BaseballProspectus.com had rated Hahn one of the top 10 general managers in baseball for the upcoming 2009 season. As a result of the 2007 season, Hahn withdrew his name from consideration for the General Manager’s position with the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals ultimately hired John Mozeliak to fill that position, and Hahn also declined the opportunity to interview for the General Manager’s position with the Pittsburgh Pirates before Neal Huntington was hired to fill that position. The White Sox also denied Hahn permission to interview for the Seattle Mariners general manager position after the conclusion of the 2008 season. The University of Michigan, Harvard Law School, and Kellogg Graduate School of Management are among Hahn’s many accomplishments (Northwestern University).
