Victorine Anne Theresa “Vicki” Peterson Cowsill (born January 11, 1958, in Northridge, Los Angeles, California) is an American singer-songwriter and musician who is best known for her rock songs (guitar, vocals). In her early years, she characterised herself as a solo artist: “I was a child who took her guitar to every sleepover and summer day in the park to perform her newest invention to anybody who would listen…”. It was with her sister Debbi Peterson and Susanna Hoffs that she formed The Bangs, which was subsequently renamed The Bangles, in 1981. Following the dissolution of The Bangles in 1989, Peterson went on to perform with the Continental Drifters and The Psycho Sisters, in both instances having Susan Cowsill as a member of the band. Peterson has contributed harmony vocals to recordings by the Hoodoo Gurus, John Doe, Tom Petty, and Belinda Carlisle, among others, in addition to performing their own material. The Psycho Sisters have also freelanced as celebrity backing singers (Steve Wynn’s Fluorescent, Giant Sand’s Center of the Universe). On top of that, she filled in for a pregnant Charlotte Caffey during the Go-reunion Go’s tour in 1994–95. On October 25, 2003, Peterson tied the knot with guitarist John Cowsill.
